Thick, short and frizzy hair is difficult to keep looking stylish, but by paying attention to how you treat your hair and what products you use, you can achieve a sleek, shiny look. It is tempting to coerce unruly hair into submission with heat styling, but excessive heat damages hair and creates more frizz. A better plan is to find a style that works with your hair type and doesn't require excessive styling to look good.

Get a Great Haircut

A good haircut makes it easier to keep your hair manageable and reduces frizz. Ask your hairdresser for recommendations rather than asking for a particular style, which may look great on your favorite celebrity, but not be right for you.

Choose Products for Your Hair

Purchase shampoo and conditioner that advertise moisturizing properties. These products help hydrate the hair, making it more manageable.

Use a Leave-In Conditioner

Leave-in conditioners add moisture to the hair, which makes short, thick frizzy hair more manageable. Leave-in conditioners also smooth the hair's cuticle, creating shine and reducing frizz.

Dry Carefully

When you get out of the shower, squeeze excess moisture from your hair with a towel, rather than rubbing the towel on your hair to reduce frizz. Smooth a dime-sized amount of anti-frizz serum through hair to help prevent frizz from developing. When possible, allow hair to air dry rather than blow drying before you style.

Choose the Right Products

Use thermal protective spray on your hair before blow drying or heat styling. Apply a deep conditioner or hot oil treatment once a week. Before styling, comb hair with a wide-tooth comb to separate strands and prevent frizz.
