For some, getting their ears pierced isn't enough. They also want to stretch those piercings so larger plugs or objects can fit into the holes. Sometimes called gauging, stretching out the ear lobes is a process that takes a lot of time and patience to do properly to achieve the desired look. Otherwise, scar tissue could develop or you might experience pain.
Step 1
Use steel tapers to stretch out your piercings. Have your piercer place the first tapers for you.
Step 2
Wait for the piercings to heal all the way before trying to stretch them further. The piercings should be at about a half an inch at this point.
Step 3
Place heavy jewelry in your piercings. This jewelry is weighted and designed specifically for stretching out piercings. Keep them in for 24 hours.
Step 4
Wrap Teflon tape around your last pair of steel tapers or plugs. Add tape until it fits snugly in your ears. This will maintain the stretching you have achieved.
Step 5
Wait a few days before you put the weighted or heavy jewelry back in your ears. Continue this process until you have stretched your ears out to the lobe size you desire.
