Taken from the evergreen yohimbe tree in West Africa, yohimbe is used as a nutritional supplement. Used for centuries as an aphrodisiac, in its current formulation, it is used primarily for erectile dysfunction. Yohimbe has also been used in the treatment of high blood pressure and angina.

Step 1

Discuss taking yohimbe with your health care provider. Before starting any vitamin or supplement, talk about your options with a health care professional. Some adverse reactions have been reported with the use of yohimbe including seizures, kidney failure and heart attacks.

Step 2

Go to the store or check online. Yohimbe is found as a tablet supplement in various health stores such as GNC or the Vitamin Shoppe. You can also find the supplement online through your favorite search engine.

Step 3

Use yohimbe as instructed. The active ingredient of yohimbe is yohimbine and should be taken at doses of 6 mg up to three times per day, not to exceed 50 mg.
