As you edge closer to 50 years of age, the elasticity of your skin drops dramatically. This can be a complicating factor in losing weight, since weight loss can make your skin look saggy. Even without weight loss, skin can start to sag over time. But if you keep your skin healthy, you can prolong its elasticity. It's just a matter of taking care of your skin and giving it the nutrients it needs.
Step 1
Use moisturizing lotion at least twice a day. Moist skin is elastic skin. Lotions with nutrients such as aloe, cocoa butter and vitamins are excellent nutritional supplements to your skin.
Step 2
Use skin scrubs that exfoliate at least three times a week. This helps get rid of old skin and help your skin regenerate faster.
Step 3
Use body wraps or saunas to cleanse your skin through sweating. Sweating releases toxins from your body and your skin, leading to a cleaner, healthier and younger-feeling body.
Step 4
Drink at least eight glasses (64 oz.) of water each day.
Step 5
Exercise 3-5 times a week, if not more. Moving your body moves your skin, which helps keep it elastic. The sweating also helps your skin, and exercising will improve your body's blood flow, ultimately helping provide nutrients to your skin and keeping it healthy.
