Chinese herbal medicine is "used with the goal of restoring balance by nourishing the body," according to Cancer.org. Formulated with Chinese herbs, Sunrider Corp. manufactures herbal foods, beverages, concentrates and formulas. Consult with your doctor before taking herbal supplements.
History
Dr. Tei-Fu Chen is a Chinese herbalist with a degree in pharmacology and Dr. Oi-Lin Chen is a licensed medical doctor in the United States. The husband and wife team designed Sunrider, incorporating Chinese herbal medicine and a franchise business set-up. Sunrider started mainly in Asia and has sourced to worldwide offices. Sunrider Corp. began in 1982 and assembles products using concentrated herbs.
Beverages
Sunrider's main drinks are Calli, NuPlus and Fortune Delight. Calli is a tea that contains tea catechins, which are being studied for their potential to prevent cancer and heart disease. NuPlus is a blend of complex carbohydrates and other legumes. Complex carbohydrates provide long-lasting energy and legumes offer a rich source of protein. Fortune Delight is a tea that is concentrated with polyphenols, which are high in antioxidants.
Foods
Three of Sunrider's main food products are NuPuffs, Sunbars and VitaShake. NuPuffs is a snack that contains raw herbs and complex carbohydrates, which help alleviate water retention and bloating. Sunbars have concentrated soy and dietary fiber. Both of these ingredients help in your body's natural elimination process. VitaShake is a meal replacement made with soybeans and fructooligosaccahride (FOS), which builds beneficial bacteria within the body.
Concentrates
Two main concentrated formulas are Sunrider's Quinary and Sunrise. Quinary is used with all herbs that are highly concentrated and claims to help your body's digestive, endocrine, respiratory and circulatory systems. Sunrise says it boosts your energy throughout the day and is blended with Chinese medicine herbs and extracts.
Formulas
Vitalite Weight Management and Active Lifestyle is Sunrider's main formula. It incorporates supplements such as MetaBooster and SportCaps. MetaBooster pills contain antioxidants, which help your body eliminate toxins. Sunrider's SportCaps include Chinese herbs and energizers that claim to increase an athlete's stamina.
Product Certifications
Over 15 Sunrider products such as Korean White Ginseng and Sunrise have an anti-doping certification, which means they are safe substances within Sunrider's ingredients, according to the website for the Banned Substances Control Group. Sunrider is certified by Star-K, which is a kosher certification agency. Another added document Sunrider obtains is the halal certification. It is given to products under the Islamic Food and Nutrition Council (IFANCA) and the logo designates products that are 100 percent halal. Halal is the Islamic word for permitted and deems it safe for Muslims to consume.
