Founded in Juneau in 1986 by a young couple, Geoff and Mary Larson, the Alaska Brewing Company has become a popular handcrafter of prize-winning beers. In 2010, there were nine types of beer produced by Alaska Brewing, including five ales.
Calories
There are no calorie listings on the company website, but other sites list calories for five of the Alaska Brewing beers. The flagship Alaskan Amber beer contains 180 calories, Alaskan Pale Golden Ale contains 155 calories, Alaskan Frontier checks in at 180 calories, Alaskan Smoked Porter has 217 calories and Alaskan Stout contains 280 calories.
Nutrition
One 12 oz. bottle of Alaskan Amber beer contains 20 g of carbohydrates and Alaskan Amber Summer Ale contains 14 g carbohydrates. Beer does not contain either fat or protein.
Company
The Larsons' first beer was based on ingredients and brewing methods used by the Douglas Brewing Company that operated in Alaska from 1899 to 1907. Geoff Larson, a home brewer and chemical engineer, used that information to brew Alaskan Amber beer.
