Caribou Coffee shops have popped up in over 500 locations in 16 states, plus the District of Columbia. With headquarters in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Caribou Coffee aims to create a special experience for customers based on its vision that "excellence is a product of hard work, and that life is too short for anything else." Caribou Coffee beans and ground coffee are sold in grocery stores or online, while Caribou Coffee shops sell beverages including brewed coffee, hot and cold espresso drinks, teas and blender drinks.

Caribou Coffee Beans

Caribou Coffee beans are imported as raw coffee beans and roasted to create varieties and blends. These include Kenya, La Minta Peaberry, Costa Rica, Guatemala El Paraiso, Acacia Organic Blend, Caribou Blend, Amy's Blend, Fireside Blend, Lakeshore Blend, Espresso and Mahogany. The Caribou Coffee website provides descriptions of all coffees and a chart to indicate if the roast of the beans is light or dark.

Nutrition Information for Brewed Coffee

According to the Caribou Coffee website, a medium cup of black Caribou Coffee contains 5 calories, 1 g of protein, 10 mg of sodium and 307 mg of caffeine. Adding sugar will increase calories and carbohydrate content, while adding whole milk or cream will add protein, carbohydrate and fat.

Cappucinos and Cafe Lattes

Cappuccinos and cafe lattes are created by Caribou Coffee baristas. They add steamed milk to Caribou espresso for the base drink, which may also have added syrup or whipped cream. These drinks, like all espresso drinks at Caribou, can be created with a variety of milk choices, including soy. Because a cappuccino is foamier, it has less milk and therefore fewer calories than a latte of the same size. A 16-oz. Caribou Coffee latte with skim milk and no syrup or whipped cream has 140 calories, 1 g fat, 15 g protein, 19 g sugar and 220 mg sodium.

Caribou Coolers

Caribou Coffee Coolers and healthier Northern Lites Coolers are blended coffee smoothies. A medium Vanilla Cooler with whipped cream contains 480 calories, 75 g of sugar and 16 g of fat. The Northern Lites version serves up 210 calories, 15 g of sugar and 13 g of fat. Other Cooler and Northern Lites Cooler flavors include espresso, mocha, coffee and caramel.

Caribou Connections

Caribou Coffee offers its products in grocery stores in 40 states. Additionally, it has partnered with Keurig, Inc. to offer its coffee for single-cup brewers. Both Midwest Express and Sun Country Airlines serve Caribou Coffee on their flights. A company committed to social consciousness and sustainability, Caribou plans to have all its coffees Rainforest Alliance certified by the end of 2011.
