The Proform 940s stationary bike is a Proform upright bike. Upright bikes do not have the bucket seats with back rests that characterize recumbent bikes. The Proform 940s is a fairly standard upright. You get a seat, handlebars and a console. The console relates feedback for your speed, time, pulse, total calories and fat calories burned. The Proform 940s does include pulse grip sensors on the handles for heart rate monitoring and the pedals have straps that help keep your feet in place. Assembling the bike is relatively easy, if you have all the parts.

Included Parts

The parts list includes the screws, locknuts, washers and bolts that should be included with your bike. If you are missing any of these parts, you should contact Proform or your dealer immediately and get replacements. The Proform 940s comes with five M10-by-25mm button screws and four M8-by-90mm carriage bolts. These two parts look similar, but the 90mm carriage bolts is more than three times longer. They each have a round head. There are also four M4-by-12mm console screws and one M4-by-16mm screw. The single screw is longer than the console screws. Four M8 split washers and five M10 split washers also come with the bike. The M10 washers are slightly larger. The last part included with the bike is the M8 nylon locknut, of which there are eight. These are the only locknuts so they should be easy to distinguish from the other parts. They have six sides.

Bike Parts

In addition to the little parts, you should make sure that you have all the big parts of the bike too. There is a handlebar post, which the handlebars connect to. There is a front stabilizer that has wheels on the end and a rear stabilizer that is similar. The actual bike frame should be included. There's the console, for which you'll need to get your own "AA" batteries. It takes two. There is a right and left side shield that are round, plastic pieces to cover the sides of the bikes, a seat post and seat. There is a seat post knob that connects the seat post to the frame. You have the right and left pedals too. The left pedal is marked with an "L."

Tools

The Proform 940s comes with an allen wrench hex tool that you will need for assembly. The allen wrench will tighten most of the bolts. Anything you can't use the allen wrench for, you will need ot have your own adjustable wrenches and a phillips screwdriver.
