When people develop a wheat or gluten allergy, they may seek out gluten free recipes. Numerous books aid these dieters in cooking, baking, preparing and even shopping for gluten-free foods. Gluten-free cookbooks provide recipes as well as information for those starting out on this diet, such as types of flours to use, how to read labels and where to purchase ingredients.

Gluten-Free Baking Classics

"Gluten-Free Baking Classics" by Annalise Roberts contains baking recipes for breads, cakes, doughnuts, and cookies. The author is a celiac disease sufferer herself.The book is recommended by the Celiac Disease Center, and "Gourmet Magazine," which endorsed the gluten-free chocolate chip cookies. The book provides recipes for both beginning and advanced chefs, as well as general baking advice.

Gluten Free Every Day Cookbook: More than 100 Easy and Delicious Recipes from the Gluten-Free Chef

The author of this book, Roberty Landophi, bills himself as the "Gluten-Free Chef." A culinary trained chef,and culinary operations manager of the University of Connecticut, he devised the recipes in this book for his wife, who has celiac disease. The recipes features quickly prepared dishes and information about gluten free food preparation as well. Topics covered include types of flours to replace wheat flour, and how to store these food sources. Recipes covered include dishes for soups, main dishes, desserts and breads.

1,000 Gluten-Free Recipes

For a large selection of recipes, Carol Fensters, "1,000 Gluten-Free Recipes" fits the bill. The book is over 700 hard-covered pages and covers recpies from breakfast pancakes, through muffins, main dishes, grain dishes with quinoa or beans, and desserts. The book also provides advice on alternative ingredients for those wishing to cook dairy free or vegetarian dishes as well. The author has published numerous other books on this topic, including "Gluten Free Quick and Easy" and "Wheat-Free Recipes and Menus."
