White Varieties
The calories in each variety of white wine do not vary much. The USDA Nutrient Database lists Chenin Blanc and Riesling white wines as having 118 calories. Pinot Blanc and Sauvignon Blanc white wines have 119 calories.
Red Varieties
On average, red wine has more calories than does white wine. A glass of Cabernet Sauvignon or Merlot red wines contains 122 calories. Pinot Noir has 121 calories. Red Zinfandel has the most calories, 129 per 5-oz. serving.
