MonaVie Essential is a juice blend comprised of 20 different antioxidant rich fruits meant to help support heart and joint health, and improve the body's immunity. MonaVie was developed in 2005 and is distributed to individuals worldwide among North and South America, Asia, South Pacific, Europe and the Middle East. This beverage contains five vitamins needed to promote health.

Vitamin A

Vitamin A comes in two forms in MonAvie: retinol and beta-carotene. Beta-carotene is the form that is derived from plants. Your body uses vitamin A for night vision, bone and skin growth, reproductive organs and the development of a healthy fetus, according to Mayo Clinic. In addition, insufficient amounts of vitamin A in your diet can lead to night blindness, dry eyes, eye infections, skin problems and slowed growth.

Vitamin C

Vitamin C, commonly known as ascorbic acid, is a water-soluble vitamin found in vegetables and citrus fruits. Vitamin C is needed for strengthening blood vessels, healing wounds and helping the body use carbohydrates, protein and fats. According to Mayo Clinic, medical studies show that there is no significant proof that vitamin C can prevent the common cold and cardiovascular disease. However, Dr. William Sears, M.D., associate clinical professor of pediatrics at the University of California, Irvine, School of Medicine, states that vitamin C is the number-one vitamin for boosting your immune system. Moreover, he says, vitamin C increases the production of infection-fighting white blood cells and antibodies, which results in preventing the entry of viruses.

Vitamins B

MonaVie has all the essential B vitamins (3, 5, 6 and 12). Vitamins B3, B5 and B6 naturally occur in fruits, vegetables, nuts and meat, while B12 is present only in meat. Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) is essential for producing antibodies to help protect your immune system. In addition, B6 helps maintain nerve function and plays a part in the formation of red blood cells. Vitamin B3 (niacin), supports your digestion and plays a vital role in the transfer of food into energy. Vitamin B5 is also an essential part of metabolizing foods and forming hormones of good cholesterol.

Vitamin E

Vitamin E is a fat soluble vitamin found naturally in most foods, but is commonly added to milk and other foods. According to the Office of Dietary Supplements, vitamin E has distinctive antioxidant activities; antioxidants are helpful when protecting your cells from free-radical damage (environmental exposures).

Vitamin K

Vitamin K is found in fruits, vegetables, nuts and meat, and plays a crucial role in the body's ability to clot blood. In addition, vitamin K contributes to the activity of protein's role in building bone health.

Fruit Content

The 20 fruit juices in MonaVie Essential include acai, apple, grape, pear, aronia, prune, kiwi, cranberry, black currant, blueberry, pomegranate, wolfberry, camu camu, maqui, acerola, banana, cupuacu, bilberry and jabuticaba.
