To reduce your risk of early death and the chronic illnesses related to obesity, you need to lose weight. Obesity is defined as a body mass index greater than 30. More than 30 percent of Americans are classified as obese, according to the results of the 2007 to 2008 National Health and Nutrition Examination survey published in 2010 in the "Journal of the American Medical Association." Meal replacement shake plans may be an effective means to help you lose the weight and improve your health. Always discuss changes to your diet with your doctor.
