NordicTrack, well-known for its ski machines that spread through living rooms in the '80s, also offers an array of other cardio fitness equipment including treadmills, elliptical machines and exercise bikes. With a variety of machines to choose from, and a host of training programs available on each piece of equipment, NordicTrack provides exercise enthusiasts with several workout options.

Skier

The NordicTrack Skier was the first type of exercise equipment created by NordicTrack, which was founded in 1975. The ski machines mimic the motion of cross-country skiing, using wooden skis and bands for the arms to pull for a full body aerobic workout. The machine works several major muscle groups including the triceps, biceps, abdominals, pectoralis major and gluteus maximus. You can customize workouts by adjusting the elevation, resistance and your workout time. The machine includes display windows that can help you track your workout by measuring time, distance, calories burned and pulse.

Treadmill

NordicTrack offers a line of treadmills, many of which have the iFit Live program to connect your workouts to the Internet. Treadmills allow exercisers to walk, jog or run at a variety of speeds for an aerobic workout. NordicTrack treadmills offer many workout options including common race distances such as 5K and 1 mile. You can adjust the speed, incline and duration of your workout on NordicTrack treadmills, and the machines measure your distance, time, calories burned and heart rate. Treadmill workouts work some of the major muscle groups including the quadriceps, hamstrings, abdominals, gluts and calves.

Elliptical Machine

There are several models of elliptical machines made by NordicTrack. The elliptical machine, like the skier, simulates cross-country skiing by engaging the arm and leg muscles simultaneously. In contrast with the ski machines, however, the elliptical machines have foot pedals and arm handles. Many of the elliptical machines feature the iFit Live program, which offers workout programs, a wireless Internet connection and live GPS information. NordicTrack elliptical machines provide a full-body cardiovascular workout that you can adjust by changing the resistance, duration and intensity of your workout. Elliptical machines strengthen several muscle groups including the legs, arms, shoulders, back, abs and gluts.

Exercise Bike

NordicTrack exercise bikes offer a cardio workout that simulates riding a bike. Exercise bikes provide a low-impact activity, making them useful for people with mild injuries or pains that are aggravated by more intense activities such as running. NordicTrack offers upright bike models, which more closely resemble real bicycles, as well as recumbent bikes, which offer more back support and are lower to the ground. You can adjust the resistance, duration and speed on a NordicTrack bike to suit your workout goals. These bikes work all of the major leg muscles, as well as the glutes and core muscles.
