List of Veterans' Hospitals

There are more than 150 Veterans Administration hospitals in the United States along with numerous clinics nationwide. Each hospital and clinic is part of a regionally administrated health care system. There are 23 of these Veterans Integrated Service Network regional groupings. Some focus on a single state while others encompass several states and territories.

Upstate New York

The VA Healthcare Network of Upstate New York includes six medical centers and numerous outpatient clinics. The medical centers---which are fully functioning hospitals for all aspects of health from illness and disease to injuries and psychiatric difficulties---include the Samuel S. Stratton Albany VA Medical Center in the state's capital as well as the VA Western New York Healthcare Systems at Batavia and Buffalo, the Bath VA Medical Center in Bath, the Syracuse VA Medical Center and the Canandaigua VA Medical Center in Canandaigua that is located southeast of Rochester.

Florida and Caribbean

The VA Sunshine Healthcare Network covers Florida, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The region includes three health care system facilities and five full VA medical centers. The medical center hospitals include the West Palm Beach VAMC in West Palm Beach, the James A. Haley Veterans' Hospital in Tampa, the Orlando VA Medical Center in Orlando, the Lake City VA Medical Center in Lake City and the Malcolm Randall VA Medical Center in Gainesville. Other hospitals include the Veterans Administration Caribbean Healthcare System in San Juan, Puerto Rico; the Bay Pines Veterans Administration Healthcare System in Bay Pines, Florida; and the Miami VA Healthcare System in Miami.

Southwest

Two VISNs cover California, Nevada and the Pacific region. VISN 21 has eight medical centers, six of them in California, one in Nevada and one in Honolulu. They are the VA Medical Center at Livermore, the VA Medical Center at Menlo Park, the San Francisco VA Medical Center, the Veterans Administration Northern California Health Care System in Mather, the VA Central California Health Care System in Fresno and the VA Palo Alto Health Care System in Palo Alto. The VA Pacific Islands medical center covers Hawaii and the Sierra Nevada hospital is located in Reno, Nev. VISN 22 has five medical center hospitals, four of them in California in Los Angeles, San Diego, Loma Linda and Long Beach. The fifth hospital is located in Las Vegas.

Texas Region

Texas falls under the regional control of three VISNs, numbered 16, 17 and 18. VISN 16 has a medical center in Houston. It also has three in Louisiana, two in Arkansas, two in Mississippi and two in Oklahoma. VISN 17 is solely in Texas with medical centers in Temple, Waco, Kerrville and Bonham. VISN 18 has three hospitals in Texas--at Big Spring, Amarillo and El Paso. It also has hospitals in New Mexico at Alburuerque, and in Arizona at Tucson, Prescott and Phoenix.
