Detoxification of the body begins with the colon. When the colon is sluggish, we can't process our foods well and our digestive system becomes compromised. Usually when the colon is affected, so are the liver and kidneys, resulting in our not feeling well. Cleansing the colon helps to move toxic waste from the system, dispensing of putrefied elements that can cause fatigue, bloating, acid reflux, diverticulitis, skin and hair problems, and more. There are different approaches and combinations to take in this effort.
Step 1
Take fresh fruits in juice form, blending them with pure water and drinking throughout the day. Apple or pear with berries. or mango or papaya with berries can be delicious combinations.
Step 2
Consume vegetables, which are ideal for healing and strengthening the digestive tract. Juicing your veggies is the fastest way to cleanse the colon, as this bypasses the need to digest pulp. Spinach and parsley blended with fresh water is an excellent juice drink. You can also add a pear or apple to give the drink added sweetness.
Step 3
Make fresh fruit salads, with squeezed lemon on top to add zest. Add dried fruits sparingly to create a delicious flavor. Fresh vegetable salads are also excellent colon cleansing choices. Make a salad with arrugla, spinach and parsley topped with bean sprouts and a fresh lemon and olive oil dressing.
Step 4
Steam vegetables, the easiest way to handle vegetables if your digestive system is sensitive. Here you can combine sweet potatoes (with skins), broccoli, brussels sprouts, rhubarb, parsnips, spinach and parsley. Chop the potatoes and parsnips into cubes or slices and place them first in a steamer placed inside a pot with boiling water at the bottom. Once they begin to soften, add the more delicate vegetables, with the leafy ones left for last. When the green veggies start to turn a brilliant color, turn off the heat. Place them in a bowl and drizzle them with olive oil. You can combine any of these vegetables to make an excellent colon cleanse meal.
Step 5
Try a raw food diet for a lengthy colon cleanse. Juices--along with fruit and vegetable salads and plenty of water--help move wastes from the colon while giving you a feeling of constant rejuvenation.
Tips and Warnings
- Drink plenty of pure spring water throughout each day. A minimum of two liters is best.
- Make sure you buy organically grown fruits and vegetables to avoid ingesting pesticides and other toxins. Wash them carefully before eating. If you are diabetic or suffer from any blood sugar abnormality, consult your health practitioner before beginning a colon cleanse. Checking your glycemic response is essential because fruit sugar can raise insulin levels.
