You can eat certain fruits and vegetables to naturally detoxify your body. Detoxification is helpful for losing weight, preventing or treating cancer. Toxins are found in the air, water, soil and food along with medicine and hormone enhancers. Conventional foods usually contain toxins such as pesticides and artificial additives.

Garlic

You can eat raw garlic and onions to help you detox your body. They contain sulfur, which has a stickiness to it and acts like a tape that free radicals or toxins get trapped on. The toxins are then eliminated from the body. "The Journal of Nutrition" states that raw garlic contains an enzyme called allicin that is an antibacterial that combats parasites and bacteria like H. pylori. Other foods that contain sulfur are broccoli, kale, Brussel sprouts, watercress and collard greens. Sulfur-rich foods also support the production of glutathione, an enzyme found in your liver that is responsible for detoxification.

Spirulina

Spirulina is a seaweed that acts has detoxifying properties. It contains vitamins and antioxidants. The vitamins it contains include vitamin B, vitamin E, zinc, manganese, copper, iron and selenium. You can find it in a tablet, capsule or powder form. The University of Maryland recommends eating it to protect your body from cellular damage. It depends on what kind of spirulina you buy, because some can absorb environmental contaminants that can negate its detoxifying elements.

Acai Berries

Acai berries contain effective amounts of antioxidants that have been proven using in vitro studies that rids the body of free radicals. Free radicals can initiate the formation of cancer cells by damaging healthy cells. Because acai berries contain a high amount of antioxidants, they help clean the body of damaging free radicals, they are considered detoxifiers.

Wheatgrass

Drink a wheat grass shot regularly to detoxify your body. Wheat grass juice shots are made fresh at some health food stores or you can juice your own with a juicer. Wheat grass juice has been used to treat colon cancer, which is attributed to its antioxidants and nutrients, such as chlorophyll.
