Chinese meals provide healthy eating options, with meat, fish, vegetables and rice the main focus of most meals. According to Helpguide, the wide range of available choices allows you to eat well and keep the calorie count low.

Choices

Make wise choices when ordering Chinese food. An egg roll has about 200 calories, but a bowl of wonton soup only has about 100 calories, according to Nutrition Action. Moo Goo Gai Pan has about 600 calories in a typical serving, while sweet and sour pork will add closer to 1,300 calories to your daily calorie budget.

Options

Brown rice, baked tofu, soup and stir-fried dishes provide the healthiest choices. These Asian dishes have the least amount of calories and provide a plethora of nutrients. According to Nutrition Action, a favorite stir-fry of mixed vegetables called Buddha's Delight has about 500 calories. One cup of brown rice has only 216 calories, according to the Fat Secret website.

Tip

You can reduce the amount of calories you eat by using chopsticks, according to Helpguide. Since it usually takes longer to eat with chopsticks, you give your stomach more time to register that you are full.
