How to Speed Up a Lifestyler Treadmill

Lifestyler treadmills are produced by ICON Health and Fitness, the same company that produces NordicTrack equipment. Unlike commercial gym equipment that use computerized buttons to adjust speed, the speed on most Lifestyler treadmills is adjusted by rotating a knob that may be located on the treadmill console or on its frame. The maximum speed a Lifestyler treadmill can manage varies from model to model, from about 3 miles per hour to 8 or more.

Step 1

Locate the speed adjustment knob for your treadmill. Depending on which model Lifestyler treadmill you have, the knob may be on the electronic console directly in front of you as you walk on the treadmill, or on the front of the treadmill frame to either the left or the right side.

Step 2

Twist the knob slowly counter-clockwise to make the treadmill go faster.

Step 3

Stop twisting the knob when you're happy with the treadmill's speed or you've reached the treadmill's maximum speed.

Step 4

Rotate the speed adjustment knob clockwise, if necessary, to slow the treadmill down again.
