Your thyroid ensures proper body metabolism to ensure you use energy at a proper rate. Diseases of the thyroid can lead to an abnormal body metabolism rate. Iodine

Good food sources of this vitamin include proteins such as fish, milk, egg yolks, and fermented cheeses. Vitamin B12 cannot be found in vegetable or plant-based sources.

According to the Linus Pauling Institute, selenium aids in the proper development, growth, and metabolism of your body since it helps regulate thyroid hormones in your body. In addition to a supplement form, selenium can be found in many foods. Good sources include organ meats and seafood. Other good source include brown rice, milk and walnuts.
