Pimples can be a burden and an embarrassment, and most people want nothing more than to eliminate them as quickly as possible. Some creams and topical treatments claim to be able to eliminate your pimples in record time, and many urban myths have been developed purporting ways to get immediate relief from a zit. While it is possible to send a pimple into remission and eliminate it overnight, there is no proven method that works every time. Each pimple is different. But there is a certain procedure you can use that will maximize your chances of eliminating the pimple while you sleep. Once you complete these steps, all you can do is sleep --- and hope for the best.

Step 1

Wash your face. This is an important step because it cleans the skin and reduces the risk of infection or further irritation to the pimple. In addition to washing the face prior to handling the pimple, you should also wash your skin in the morning and at night before going to bed. This clears away potential contaminants and other risk factors for developing pimples.

Step 2

Apply a layer of salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide to the pimple. These medications are often worked into lotions or creams and help eliminate pimples in similar ways. They break down oils on the skin that may exacerbate acne while also clearing away dead skin cells, which increase the risk of trapped oil or dirt bothering your skin and worsening pimples.

Step 3

Place a layer of moisturizer over the skin to prevent excessive dryness or irritation. While topical medications can be very beneficial to a pimple, they sometimes irritate the skin and can make the location look worse. Moisturizer guards against this.

Step 4

Crush up aspirin, mix it with water and dab a small amount onto your pimple. This is the quickest solution, but it is short-term in nature; the anti-inflammatory effects of aspirin will clear away redness in the pimple, greatly reducing its visibility. However, its effects may only last a few hours. Re-application will help the pimple, but the only permanent solution is to cure the pimple itself, not the symptoms.

Tips and Warnings

  • Avoid popping the pimple or touching it when not necessary. Popping may cause bleeding and worsen its appearance, particularly if a scab develops. Touching the skin excessively can increase irritation and swelling, extending the life of the pimple.

Things You'll Need
