A grande, or grand, margarita is a variation of the classic margarita cocktail. The grande margarita contains added orange liqueur. Alcohol is very high in calories, containing about 198 calories per ounce, but with no vitamins or minerals.

Ingredients

A recipe for grande margarita on the Food.com website lists the ingredients as 1 oz. of Grand Marnier or quality orange citrus liqueur, 2 oz. of high-quality tequila, an ounce of freshly squeezed lime juice and a sprinkle of sugar to taste.

Total Calories

A 2 oz. serving of tequila contains 128 calories, according to the USDA's MyFood-a-pedia website. A fluid ounce of Grand Marnier equals 75 calories. Lime juice contains 8 calories per ounce. Half a teaspoon of white sugar equals 8 calories. That means the total calories in a grande margarita is 219, depending on the amount of sugar added.

Considerations

Most margaritas are served in a glass with a salted rim. This is usually achieved by rubbing a lime wedge around the rim and dipping the top of the glass in coarse salt. Salt is a mineral and contains zero calories. Approximately 10 percent of the drink's calories come from carbohydrates, mostly from the sugar and the lime juice.
