Xango is a juice that contains a puree from the mangosteen fruit. The mangosteen fruit has been the subject of several clinical trials due to the high concentration of xanthones in the fruit. Xanthones are chemicals that in plants that, when consumed, offer your body a boost of antioxidants. The presence of xanthones in Xango juice can promote several health benefits.
Inflammation
Mangosteen juice, Xango in particular, has been scientifically proven to reduce inflammation. A study performed by Jay Udani at Medicus Research in Northridge, California, revealed that consumption of mangosteen juice effectively reduced levels of c-reactive protein in obese patients when compared to a placebo group. C-reactive protein is a protein produced in the liver and made in greater quantities when inflammation is present in the body. Therefore, the lower levels of c-reactive protein in response to Xango juice consumption directly link this product to inflammation reduction.
Cardiac Benefits
The consumption of Xango juice can also promote several heart-healthy benefits. Elevated levels of c-reactive protein are an indication of inflammation throughout the body. The American Heart Association states that elevated levels of c-reactive protein can be an indicator of risk of cardiovascular disease. Consumption of Xango can reduce the levels of c-reactive protein and lower your risk of cardiovascular disease. In addition, a study performed by the Department of Pharmacology at Central South University in China revealed the xanthones contained in mangosteen juice were effective in minimizing heart damage associated with myocardial infarction or heart attack.
Cancer Protection
Due to the high concentration of xanthones present in Xango juice, consumption of this product may offer preventative benefits against some forms of cancer. A study performed by the Department of Biochemistry at Srinakharinwirot University in Bangkok, Thailand revealed the xanthones contained in the mangosteen offered cytotoxic and anti-proliferative properties against human colorectal adenocarcinoma cells. The study also revealed that tumor size decreased, and in some cases completely disappeared in the presence of mangosteen.
