Herbs That Destroy Cancer Cells Throughout the Body

Cancer, an abnormal growth of cells, may be caused by alterations of genes that keep cells from growing in the appropriate manner. Sometimes, cancer cells spread from the original site to another part of the body; this is called metastasis. Cancer is a significant cause of illness and death. However, treatment advances have made cancer curable, especially, if detected early. Green Tea

Green tea's polyphenol epigallocatechin-3-gallate promotes apoptosis, or programmed cell death. This represents an attractive approach for treating cancer because the process of apoptosis -- a normal physiological process for the self-destruction of cells that are DNA-damaged, superfluous or unwanted -- may be checked in cancer cells, according to the University of Maryland Medical Center.

Garlic

More research is needed but tentative results show that organo-sulfur compounds from garlic may inhibit the proliferation and migration of human cancer cells, the University of Michigan Health System reports. The inhibitory effects of organo-sulfur compounds in garlic against cancer cells are largely attributed to radical scavenging of oxygen metabolites.

Ginseng

Ginseng, the root of the araliaceous plant and its active constituents, ginsenosides, may suppress malignant transformation and inhibit the proliferation of cancerous cells throughout your body, according to Herbal Safety. Talk to your doctor to learn whether ginseng may be advisable for your particular condition as ginseng interacts with some medications.
