Dates are another type of alkaline fruit that can help you shift your body pH from acidic to alkaline. Dates provide a source of several nutrients. They are rich in healthy sugar, as well as dietary fiber. According to Net Wellness, a website maintained by the University of Cincinnati, dates provide potassium, calcium and iron, all essential minerals involved in healthy tissue maintenance. Dates provide a good snack eaten alone and make tasty additives to salads. Please note that dates have a very high glycemic index, meaning they may cause your blood sugar to spike following consumption, and therefore may not be a good snack for people with diabetes. Eating dates in combination with other high-fiber foods can help prevent this blood spike.
