True Fitness produces a line of commercial and residential cardio equipment, including bikes, ellipticals and treadmills. The treadmill line includes eight models, as of December 2010. True residential treadmills are high-end machines, retailing between $2,600 and $6,000. Each model offers a slightly different mix of features, but all have the same basic specifications.
Design
All the treadmills in the True product line are made from heavy-gauge steel. These are not light machines; each machine weighs between 230 and 420 pounds. Depending on the specific model, the user weight capacity is 300 pounds, 350 or 400. The dimensions of the running surface vary. The length is 54 to 60 inches and the width is 20 to 22 inches.
Settings
True treadmills have one of two motors: a three- or four-horsepower DC motor. The maximum incline is 15 percent. One model offers a decline option, up to minus 3 percent. All True treadmills support speeds between 0 and 12 mph.
Console
Most True treadmills have either a 7- or 15-inch single-window LCD display. Some displays on the more expensive models are touch screens. A couple of the models have a more basic two-window LCD display. The lower-end True treadmills offer four preset workout programs and three custom workout options. The higher-end models have eight to 10 programs, and one model features 26 workout options. True treadmills have a polar-compatible wireless heart-rate monitoring system. Each model has at least one heart-rate control workout.
