Step 4
Assign someone to track minutes in order to note discussions that are occurring within the group. This position should be alternated each week.

Create goals for the group, such as number of miles to be walked or a road race. Ask members to focus on their physical activity and record what exercises they have done before the next meeting.
Step 6
Write a schedule for everyone that has a time frame for when meetings will occur and topics of discussion to be handed out at the end of the meeting.
Tips and Warnings
- Keep the group open to new members and be sure to welcome everyone who wants to improve their fitness goals as opposed to only overweight individuals. Allow everyone to have a chance to speak and participate so the discussion can be broad and focus on a variety of subjects about fitness and health. Provide research for each meeting that provides effective methods of exercise, such as weight lifting and interval training. It is also recommended by the American Academy of Physicians Assistant to partake in group exercise because of the motivation and determination of exercising with a partner or group. Therefore, schedule group exercise meetings and other physical activities that a group might enjoy.
- When discussing exercises to be done, remind participants to consult their physicians before partaking in an exercise regimen.
