Nature's Sunshine is one of the oldest purveyors of herbal, vitamin, mineral and nutritional supplements in the United States. In 1972, Gene Hughes developed Nature's Sunshine after experimenting in his kitchen for a cure for his stomach problems. Hughes developed a capsule containing cayenne pepper and expanded his company with help from his family. Today, Nature's Sunshine is sold in 30 countries by nearly 600,000 independent distributors. However, natural supplements are not required by the FDA to be tested, so they have not been sanctioned by the U.S. government.
Immunity-Building
Nature's Sunshine carries 71 different immunity-building supplements, available in capsule and tablet forms in addition to liquid drops. Nature's Sunshine immunity supplements are marketed as providing support for a weakened immune system, used to avoid seasonal colds, for fighting fatigue, reducing the effects of stress and to provide beneficial antioxidant protection for overall health.
Detoxification
Nature's Sunshine carries 50 different cleansing and detoxifying supplements marketed to rid the body of harmful toxins and waste products, although most experts in conventional medicine say the body has mechanisms to do this on its own. The company's detoxification products range in need from the treatment of indigestion and heartburn to curative properties attributed to addressing enzymatic activity and improved circulation. These products are available in capsule, tablet and liquid forms.
Probiotic
Nature's Sunshine also carries three proprietary blends for probiotic use. Probiotics are supplements containing live micro-organisms claimed to combat numerous digestive health problems, as well as improve overall immunity. Nature's Sunshine proprietary blends are marketed for treatment of candida, urinary tract infections, diarrhea, to improve intestinal flora and as aids to maintaining good colon health.
