Detox for Women is a cleansing diet that was created by clinical nutritionist, Natalia Rose. Rose's detox diet involves the process of riding the body of harmful toxins and stimulants. Her basic concept of the diet is stabilizing bacterial and yeast levels in the body by increasing consumption of alkalizing foods.

Rose has developed two detox plan options to help dieters to stay on track. One option is very intense and involves the avoidance of such foods and substances as caffeine, processed foods, refined foods, alcohol, and smoking. These things are eliminated because they are considered to be toxic to the body. The second option is more flexible and allows you to incorporate high quality cooked foods and animal products. Both plans encourage you to load up on raw foods such as fruit, vegetables, high quality fish products, juices, and large quantities of purified water.

Detox diets can cause harsh side effects such as: nausea, cramps, diarrhea, headache, fever, fatigue, lethargy, sore throat, and dehydration. These side effects are experienced in very restrictive detox diets that last for a long period of time. Catherine Collins, chief dietitian at St. George's Hospital in London, has seen increased numbers of people suffering from debilitating detox side effects due to increased water and less salt.
Detox diets that last only a couple of days are beneficial to a person's health because it eliminates toxins from the body. Detox diets that are severely restrictive and last for long periods of time can be harmful to your health. Intense detox diets can cause long-lasting debilitating effects of the body that can result in brain damage and possible death because electrolytes become dangerously diluted.
Women Who Shouldn't Follow Detox Diet
Women who have an impaired immune system, who are diabetic, suffer from chronic illnesses, or pregnant should not start the detox diet because it could be very harmful to your health. Also, as with any diet, you should consult a physician before starting a new diet regimen to make sure it is the right diet for you.
