Working out doesn't have to be a bore. As long as you burn more calories than you take in, your body will burn stored fat as fuel. The stress and tension relief of regular physical activity can also decrease your production of glucocorticoids, hormones that encourage deposits of visceral fat.

Play With Your Kids

According to Harvard Health Publications, vigorous play with your kids can burn up to 444 calories per hour if you weigh 185 pounds. You not only burn your own fat, but you also encourage your kids to be physically active. If you're at a loss for ideas, try setting up an obstacle course in the living room or backyard.

Video Games

Just twiddling your thumbs on a video game controller won't burn many calories, but a growing genre of video games promote physical activity. In return for an initial investment in a video game console and any necessary accessories -- such as handheld controllers or a touch pad for your feet -- you can dance, play sports or get coached through a personalized workout. No matter how tough the game, your fat-burning results ultimately depend on you. The more you move as you play, the more pounds and inches you lose. You can play these games alone, but playing with a friend is a fun, healthy way to bond.

Sports

If you can find a group sport you enjoy, the constant positive social stimulation paired with the regular physical activity will help the pounds melt away. You don't have to be professional level to play in an organized league. Most midsize to large cities have adult leagues for sports, from hockey to softball, with players of all skill levels. You can always play a grown-up version of the neighborhood pick-up game, too. You don't need a full team to play games like soccer or basketball.

Dance

If you've always wanted to learn a certain style of dance but never dared, this might be your opportunity to get rid of those nagging remnants of belly fat. Upbeat dance music help keep you moving, and if you find a dance style you like, it won't even feel like exercise. You can study organized dance from ballroom, to flamenco, to Latin dancing, to Irish step dancing. You can dance with a partner socially, or go out to the club. No matter where you end up dancing, look for like-minded people primarily interested in working up a sweat.
