Enuresis is the scientific name for bed-wetting. Thousands of children and adults around the world suffer from this problem. Approximately 1 percent of 6-year olds and just over 3 percent of 14-year olds have experienced or, are experiencing bed-wetting, the Child Development Institute reports. Various exercises can be performed to help alleviate the problem.
Night Exercises
One method of preventing bedwetting in children is night lifting. By taking your child to the bathroom during the night, you prevent him from bedwetting. If you persevere with this technique, it could help your child remember to get up in the night and urinate, instead of doing it in his bed.Another method that could help both children and adults is the alarm method. The alarm is attached to bedclothes. When the person begins to urinates, the alarm is activated. This is supposed to help the person get up and go to the bathroom.
Other Exercises
Retention control is a method in which the child or adult has to consciously hold their urine during waking hours. This is supposed to strengthen the bladder and affect her thought process regarding urination at night. Kegel exercises are one of the most popular ways of strengthening the bladder. They actually tone and tighten the pelvic floor muscles and can be performed anywhere.

Benefits associated with carrying out bladder strengthening exercises include your ability to hold your urine for much longer during the day as well. These exercises are not just beneficial for bedwetting purposes. Doing them regularly can save you the embarrassment of losing control in a public place.

You should see your doctor before attempting any bedwetting exercises. If you have started them already and there is no marked improvement, contact your doctor to investigate the problem further.
