Facts About Cheerios

Cheerios by General Mills is a cereal made from whole grain oats. Introduced in 1941, it was the first oat-based cold cereal. Cheerios is cholesterol-free, low in fat and sugar, and made without artificial flavors or colors.

Health Benefits

Cheerios is certified by the American Heart Association for meeting its criteria as a food low in saturated fat and cholesterol. This cereal can be part of a low-fat, low-cholesterol diet and may provide some cholesterol-lowering benefits.

There are 100 calories in a 1-cup serving of Cheerios. Of those calories, 15 are from fat (17.5 percent). These fats are polyunsaturated and monounsaturated. There are no saturated fats or trans fats in Cheerios.
