As a cheerleader, all eyes are on you. Remembering routines and cheers is enough to think about without having to worry about whether your hair looks good. There are many ways to style your hair for the big game or a competition; it just takes practice and creativity.

Holding Up Your Up-Do

Pinning your hair back is a common style for anyone performing physical activity to keep your hair out of your face and eyes and enable you to see clearly. There are many types of up-dos, such as ponytails, buns or braids. The key to maintaining the look of your hair throughout your entire event is what you use to hold it in place. Hairspray is good for small pieces of hair while hair ties, bobby pins and clips are better suited for the bulk of your hair.

Ponytails

High, low or in multiples, ponytails can be a great hairstyle and there are many things you can do to spice them up. For example: after your hair is secured in a hair tie, take a small section of hair from the underside, tightly wrap it around the actual hair tie, covering it up, and secure the end with a bobby pin or two. Another way to enhance your hair in a ponytail is to add curl or ribbons.

Buns

Buns are not just for ballerinas anymore. Like the ponytail, you can have one or more and they can be high or low. Buns can be pulled back tightly or loose with wisps of hair sticking out. Part your hair down the middle as if you were making pigtails, take each side and make it into a low, loose bun and then secure it.

Braids

Braids can be incorporated into any hairstyle. For example, you can braid small parts of the front of your hair leading into a ponytail or bun. You can also braid a section of the hair in the actual bun or braid the whole bun before you wrap it up. You can do a single or double braid with ribbons in it as well.

Leave It Down

Deciding to leave your hair down has pros and cons. It may look good, but if it's long enough, it can get in your eyes. After a long night of cheering, it may not look as good as it did when you first started. If you decide you leave hour hair down, depending on you hair, you can pin the front part back to ensure maximum vision. You may want to have a hair tie handy in case you need to pull it up.
