Depending on the limitations of each individual, there are many activities that can be done in a nursing home. People in a nursing home are not unnecessarily disabled--most of them like to dance and enjoy life. Socializing is very important to residents in a nursing home.
Seniors With Good Range of Motion
Playing volleyball with a balloon, dance classes, bingo and card games are exciting ways for elderly people to practice their range of motion and encourage exercise. It also allows them to interact with other residents in a nursing home.
Seniors With Limitations
Doing puzzles and playing cards are a good way to visit with other senior residents and interact. Keeping people busy and happy makes their environment a more enjoyable place to live. This is especially true when family and friends are unable to visit, and the senior residents can enjoy the company of other people.
Seniors Without the Ability to Move
Listening to music, watching movies, reading books, magazines or having seniors read to you allows for interaction with other people in a nursing home.
