How to Lose Weight Fast, Easy & Free

Individuals can lose weight quickly, efficiently and with little to no special costs involved by following a few simple steps that can be done at home. You don't need an expensive gym membership to lose weight or exercise properly, and you don't need to spend hundreds of dollars on dietary supplements or weight loss pills to achieve optimal success. All you need is imagination, determination and a goal.

Step 1

Exercise every day. You can make up your own or watch or record exercise shows on television. One of the most effective ways to lose weight and increase the metabolism, thereby burning more fat, is to engage in at least 30 minutes a day of cardio or aerobic exercise. Go for a walk, ride your bike or play a game of tennis or racquetball at your local park, all of which make exercise less like work and more like outdoor fun. Don't forget to add some weightlifting moves to your exercise routine, or at least weight bearing exercises such as walking, jogging, lunges and squats to build lean muscle mass, burn calories fast and increase your metabolism.

Step 2

Eat better. Instead of choosing fast food for lunch, pack a brown bag with a sandwich, a few pieces of raw vegetables and fruit, and a water or diet soda or tea or coffee. A balanced diet can be achieved by avoiding high-fat and high sugar foods such as fast food, pizza, fried chicken and french fries. Increase the amount of fruits and vegetables in your diet--the FDA recommends at least five servings a day. Stick to the basics and engage in portion control. Dieting is not so much watching everything you eat as it is reducing the amount you eat.

Step 3

Drink more water on a daily basis. We are told by our doctors and other health organizations to drink at least 64 ounces of water a day, but most of us fall way short. Drinking up to a gallon of water a day will help you shed weight fast by eliminating bloating and water retention in your body, and will help hydrate cells, tissues and organs all day long, which enhances weight loss.
