The 3-Hour Diet by Jorge Cruise centers on eating small, frequent meals to regulate your appetite and maintain your blood sugar levels. There is less emphasis on counting calories or avoiding certain types of foods, and a greater emphasis on eating small portion sizes at proper intervals.

How Diet Works
The 3-Hour Diet emphasizes the importance of eating small meals every three hours with a concentration on portion size and sugar restriction. Cruise recommends eating breakfast, lunch, dinner and two small snacks of 100 calories or less.
Foods to Enjoy
Most foods are allowed on the 3-Hour Diet, including candy and other sweets, but those should be enjoyed infrequently and only as a part of the daily snacks. Because Cruise advocates eating every three hours, he concedes processed and fast foods can be incorporated into the meal plan. He suggests a portion-controlled mixture of protein, carbohydrates and a small amount of fats at each meal.
Foods to Avoid
While most foods can be enjoyed on the 3-Hour Diet, Cruise recommends avoiding too much processed sugar to prevent sudden changes in blood sugar, which can cause fatigue and an increase in appetite. Counting calories, carbs or fat grams are not major components of this diet.
Sample Menu
By combining small amounts of protein, carbs and fats at each meal, Cruise offers a menu suggestion that includes a McDonald's Egg McMuffin, milk and an apple for breakfast; lunch consisting of pre-packaged cheese cannelloni and a small salad with non-fat dressing; 3 oz. of grilled chicken with 1 cup of green beans and baked potato with 1 tsp. of butter for dinner as well as two snacks consisting of about 100 calories each. You should eat each meal or snack at about three-hour intervals.
Other 3-hour Diets
Cruise's 3-Hour Diet is similar to the Three-Hour Diet by Stew Smith, former Navy Seal. Smith's diet recommends eating every three hours and restricting food choices to mostly protein, and fruits and vegetables plus lots of water.
