About Puralin the Weight Loss Pill

According to the Apothecus Pharmaceutical Corporation, Puralin weight loss tablets provide an effective and safe method of losing weight without the risk of side effects, even if you are taking prescription or other over-the-counter medications. Unlike many other weight loss supplements that contain herbs or stimulants, Puralin is a homeopathic formula reputedly developed by a leading naturopathic physician. However, since there is little documentation to substantiate any of these claims, consult your health care practitioner before using the Puralin brand weight loss pill.

Company Profile

Apothecus Pharmaceutical Corporation is headquartered in Oyster Bay, New York. The primary products the company produces are contraceptive foam, a personal lubricant and a pregnancy test kit marketed under the brand VCF. The company also produces a pain reliever, a decongestant, sleeping pills and the Puralin weight loss pill. According to the company's website, it is certified in ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 international standards and compliant with the U.S. Federal Drug Administration's Good Manufacturing Practices and Standard Operating Procedure regulations.

Product Distribution

The company says that its products are distributed through more than 25,000 outlets, including several well-known pharmacy chains and "big box" retail stores. However, it is not clear what share Puralin weight loss pills represent in these markets. It seems likely that as an over-the-counter dietary supplement, it can be found in these stores as well as natural health food stores and various online outlets.

Composition

In a press release dated Nov. 21, 2000, Apothecus claims that Puralin weight loss pills contain homeopathic ingredients in a formula that company president Daniel Leon describes as employing the European method of "Ultra Low Dose Therapy," a propriety delivery system and trademark registered under the same name. Exactly what these ingredients are and their concentration in the product remains a closely guarded secret. However, according to a review published by ThinReport.com, the pills contain chitosan, a substance that allegedly blocks the absorption of dietary fats in the intestines.

Pharmacological Effects

Leon states that the Puralin weight loss pill formula naturally enhances immune function. In keeping with the philosophy of homeopathic principles, the ingredients in the product stimulate the production and release of certain antibodies that counter symptoms of disease in the same way that vaccines work. However, Leon attributes this effect to the Puralin products formulated to ease headache and arthritis pain and it is not clear how the weight loss effect takes place. Presumably, the weight loss effect is specifically due to the presence of chitosan.

Safety

Apothecus claims that Puralin weight loss pills will not interfere or interact with prescription or other over-the counter medications, including diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, prostate, glaucoma and thyroid drugs. There is no clinical evidence to validate these claims or to demonstrate the product's effectiveness in facilitating weight loss. Check with your doctor before using this product, especially if you have a chronic disorder or are taking other medications.
