If you're taking more than just a couple of vitamin supplements, things can get confusing. Whether you take them all together or split them up throughout the day is usually a matter of convenience. However, some vitamins work best when taken together. If you're splitting up your vitamins, make sure that you're taking the right combination at any given time during the day. Experiment by taking the vitamins at different times of the day if you experience nausea or an upset stomach.

Step 1

Take vitamin C with iron. Vitamin C improves the absorption of iron, reports MedlinePlus. You can do this by taking these two supplements together or you can take your iron pills with a glass of orange juice.

Step 2

Take vitamins C and E together. According to Peter P. Zandi, Ph.D. from the Bloomberg School of Public Health at Johns Hopkins University, taking these two vitamins together can help reduce the brain damage caused by Alzheimer's. This only happens when the two vitamins are taken together and not separately or with other vitamins.

Step 3

Take vitamin D together with calcium supplements. This improves the absorption of calcium and protects bones more effectively.

Step 4

Take all B vitamins together. If you take B12, folic acid and other B vitamins, either take them all at once or buy a B complex that combines them. Taking the B vitamins can help relieve symptoms of neuritis, a nervous disorder, as well as other health problems.
