Colon cleansing can remove harmful toxins and bacteria from your body leaving you feeling lighter and healthier. Loading up on probiotics, or healthy bacteria, before and after a colon cleanse will keep your defense system strong. The safety of colon cleanses has not been proven, so please consult your physician first.
Blessed Herbs Organic Colon Cleanse
This is a two-phase colon cleanse and lasts for nine days. Five of the nine days you are on a liquid fast, so its not recommended if you're not already in good health. According to Deb's Colon Cleanse review, the ingredients included in this product don't have a ton of supporting research, but the company does have an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau. The dose includes capsules and loose herbal powder you can mix with juice. The price is fairly high.
Earth's Bounty OxyCleanse
If you're looking for a gentle daily colon cleanser, this is the product to try. Magnesium peroxide is an ingredient in the product that cleans out the colon by releasing oxygen. Many are happy with the lack of side effects this product has like bloating or cramping. It will gradually and safely clean the colon, but if you are looking for something more immediate, this isn't the product for you. This product is also safe for those who have an allergy to gluten. The daily dose is taken in capsule form and is fairly inexpensive.
Colothin
Taken in capsule form, Colothin claims to not only clean the colon but to shed unwanted weight, rid yourself of gas and bloating, increase energy, enhance metabolism and stimulate cell regeneration. This product has the same common ingredients as most colon cleansers -- ginger and psyllium husk. The company requires you to be on a recurring shipment of the product, and it is expensive. Most reviews are positive, but this shouldn't be considered a miracle pill.
Organic Total Body Cleanse
For a reasonably priced, middle-of-the-road colon cleanse, this is your best bet. The cleanse lasts for 14 days, and in addition to it being organic, it is also vegan and gluten free. The cleanse is a three-part process and can be taken with a normal, healthy diet. Taken in capsule form, the ingredients are gentle and safe. It is recommended to detoxify other organs as well.
Do It Yourself
In Ayurveda, a form of holistic medicine, a salt water flush is recommended for cleansing the colon. With 2 tsp. natural salt and 1 quart warm distilled water, you can clean your colon safely at home. Stay near a bathroom, and elimination should occur within two hours. According to Mukunda Stiles in Ayurvedic Yoga Therapy, cleansing practices will create lifestyle changes leading to greater vitality and health.
