Trampolines take a beating -- not only from all of the jumping, but also from sun, rain and other natural elements. Wear and tear will occur, so to prevent your trampoline from breaking, which can cause serious injury to the jumper, regular inspection and repairs are advised. Trampolines come in many types, from many companies so keeping your instruction manual will prove handy when it comes time to replace parts.
Step 1
Inspect your trampoline. With regular inspections, you will be able to catch minor issues before they become dangerous. The three areas to pay the closest attention to are the legs, springs that hold the mat and the mat itself. When looking at the legs, ensure that they fit snugly, have no rust or corrosion and aren't bent. Springs should be tight and rust-free. Springs that are stretched out or rusty can break. The mat should be hole-free. Check them from the underside of the trampoline. Look for any spots that appear more worn than others.
Step 2
Locate parts. Once you've inspected the trampoline and found areas that need to be repaired, you need to get replacement parts. This is where your manual comes in. It will include your trampoline model number, which will be necessary in ordering the correct type and size of parts. The manufacturer's contact information should be included in the manual as well, and a representative should be able to tell you whether the part is under any warranty. Depending upon location, you might be able to pick up the parts or have them mailed to you.
Step 3
Read the assembly instructions. Once you've received your part, review the instructions on how to properly assemble it. It might be as simple as taking one leg off and putting the new one on or as difficult as taking the trampoline apart. Regardless of which part you are replacing, knowing what you're doing will prevent further damage or injury because of faulty equipment.
Tips and Warnings
- With different trampolines come different parts. Trying to replace the broken or torn pieces yourself or with a similar part from something else can be hazardous. Trampoline parts are made specifically for how that model distributes weight and pressure. Again, with the abuse it takes from jumpers and weather, having the right part is key to having a fun and safe time on your trampoline.
