Wrinkles are a normal part of the aging process. Genetics plays a role in wrinkles, as does lifestyle issues such as sun exposure and smoking. Many over the counter treatments are available for wrinkles. If you aren't happy with the results you receive from using these produces, visit your health care provider for other options. Finally, keep skin hydrated. While adding moisture to the skin will not get rid of wrinkles, it will reduce their appearance. Lines and wrinkles are much more noticeable on dry skin.

Step 1

Apply a moisturizer containing anti-wrinkle ingredients. Look for retinol, alpha-hydroxy acid or glycolic acid in the active ingredients. Initially apply every other day, gradually increasing to twice a day to minimize the chance of irritation.

Step 2

Consider prescription topicals. Your health care provider can prescribe moisturizer containing stronger doses of retinol that you can purchase over the counter.

Step 3

Discuss more aggressive treatment with your doctor. Dermabrasion, chemical peels, collagen, fat or hyaluronic acid injections, laser treatment and botulism toxin type A injections all get rid of wrinkles. In addition, several of these treatments provide relief from other signs of aging, by fading brown spots and tightening skin.

Step 4

Use sunscreen daily. Regardless of what type of wrinkle treatment you decide to use, applying sunscreen every morning will make the treatment more effective, and slow the formation of new wrinkles.
