Manual Massage Tools for Cellulite

When you are plagued with unsightly, puckered cellulite, you might be desperate to get rid of it. Some leading experts, like dermatologist Audrey Kunin, M.D., recommend massaging cellulite to redistribute the cells to lessen the puckered and wrinkled appearance of the fat cells on the skin. While you could try just massaging your skin with your hands, specific tools exist to help you manually massage away some of the cellulite while sloughing away dead skin and allowing for a more healthy appearance.
While cellulite massage can help reduce the appearance of cellulite, it is not a miracle or quick fix. According to the "International Journal of Cosmetic Science," laser therapies, radio frequencies and liposuction are more effective at removing cellulite from the skin completely, but less invasive tactics like massage or creams can help make your cellulite less noticeable.

Cellulite Brush

A cellulite brush is a brush that looks much like a hairbrush, with a large paddle and bristles on one side. The difference is the stiffness of the brush bristles. A cellulite brush uses stiff bristles to gently stimulate the skin. This can help decrease oedema, or water retention in the cells that help cause that wrinkled appearance on the skin.

Knobble Massager

A knobble massage tool is recommended by Northwestern Health Sciences University. If you want to see results from massaging the skin, you'll need to do it often. A knobble massage tool has one smooth, rounded end, usually made of wood, and a curved handle, making it easy to hold and comfortable to operate for long periods of time. They are relatively inexpensive, thanks to the simple design.

Massage MItt

A massage mitt is helpful when you hope to manually massage your cellulite while in the shower. It slips over your hand live a glove, and has one side that is covered in smooth micro-crystals, rubber knobs or a pumice-type material, you apply them to your skin as if you were massaging your cellulite with your hand. It's helpful in the shower, where slippery tools won't do.

Massage Roller

A massage roller is a tool that is shaped like a horn on both sides, with a thin center that is easy to grip. While most experts, like Audrey Kunin, M.D., recommend that you massage in a circular motion, some may find it more comfortable to go back and forth. A massage roller can be used by you, or a partner willing to help, and it is compact and easy to clean, usually made of plastic or wood.
