Nutritionists are considered a part of the fitness and nutrition fields. Similar to the personal fitness trainer, they work one on one with clients. Rather than providing information regarding to exercise, nutritionists coach clients on nutrition and eating habits.
Responsibilities
Nutritionists are responsible for the creation of meal plans for clients. In addition, they should also monitor clients to ensure that they follow through and stick to the meal plans. They must also make modifications to the diet as necessary.
Employers
Nutritionists are commonly employed at hospitals, gyms and private clinics.
Education
Nutritionists must have an undergraduate degree in an area related to fitness or nutrition to sit for the licensing exam. Master's degrees, however, are becoming the norm in this profession.
Salary
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the 2006 average nutritionist income was $46,980.
Outlook
The Bureau of Labor Statistics states that the job outlook for nutritionists is good, especially for those with specialized training.
