Children's fitness activities will get your kids away from TV and video games and into an active environment. While many fun activities will reduce your child's body weight and improve his fitness, these exercises are also designed to boost your child's social skills and ability to interact with other children.

Block Bowling

This outdoor children's activity is designed to keep your kids active while improving their hand-eye coordination. Take a large piece of cardboard and cut out three bowling pin blocks. Place these blocks next to each other on one side of a playground. Give your child and his friends a rubber ball and have them stand 10 feet away from the blocks. On your mark, have the children take turns running forward and throwing the ball at the blocks. The kid with the most pins knocked down after five rounds is the winner of the game.

Bubble Chasing

This simple activity is designed to amuse and entertain young children. According to PBS, this activity will also improve your child's gross motor skills. Start by gathering a group of kids in a circle. Take out a large bubble blower and either a bucket of dish soap or premade bubble soap. Have one kid step up and place the bubble blower in the soap. Have him blow bubbles all around. Tell each kid to chase after the bubbles, counting the number they were able to pop before they hit the ground. The child with the most bubbles popped is the winner.

10-Penny Pickup

This activity is designed to keep your child fit and improve her dexterity and balance. Grab 10 pennies and place them on the ground. Take a cardboard box and place it 15 feet from the pennies. On your signal, have your child walk over to the pennies and pick them up with her toes. After picking a penny up, have her carry it with her toes over to the box and drop it in. Time her to see how long it takes for her to get all the pennies in the box.

Jump the River

This activity is designed to stimulate your child's imagination and desire to explore. Place several ropes on the floor of a large gym or outdoor space. Tell a group of kids that each rope is a lake or stream that they are not allowed to touch. Create a path that the children must follow, which forces them to cross the rivers and streams at different points. Have the kids jump over each stream with two feet and help their partners cross in a timely manner.
