Detoxification, the process of removing toxins from your body, is commonly achieved through detox diets, which require following a strict regimen of raw vegetables and fruits. For those who don't wish to get that extreme, you can still consume a selection of foods every day that are rich in vitamins and minerals that aid in detoxing your body.

Dark Leafy Vegetables

Dark leafy vegetables, such as barley, kale, spinach, chard, wheat grass and spinach, are beneficial in helping to detox your body. According to the Global Healing Center, these foods provide a chlorophyll boost to your digestive tract and liver, ridding your body of harmful chemicals and toxins.

Oranges

According to the University of Maryland Medical Center, vitamin C is an antioxidant used to block damage that can be focused by free radicals. These substances form when your body naturally transforms food into glucose, supplying your body with energy. Buildup over time of such byproducts can enhance the aging process, resulting in wrinkles and fine lines. Also, free radicals can contribute to the development of cancer or heart disease. Oranges, which are high in vitamin C, can help flush out toxins in your body.

Green Tea

According to a 2007 article by "Science Daily," concentrated chemicals from green tea assist in boosting the production of detoxification enzymes. A clinical study conducted at the University of Arizona by Sherry Chow, Ph.D, also found that chemicals in green tea increase detoxification enzymes in humans. According to Chow, green tea converts carcinogens into non-toxic chemicals.
