Balance

The proper setup position starts with establishing a solid, athletic base in your legs to maintain balance throughout the swing, according to NCGolfers.com. Keep your left thumb along the top of the grip while wrapping your fingers underneath the club. Next, place your right hand directly on top of your left, placing your fingers and thumb in a similar fashion as that of your left hand. Finally, interlock your right little finger with your left index finger to ensure both hands move as one throughout the swing.

Address

After establishing your stance and grip, your final step is to place your arms in proper position during address. Allow your arms to hang naturally from your shoulders and slightly ahead of your body due to the bend in your waist. You will need to adjust your ball position closer or farther from your body depending on the length of your club for each shot.
