What Are the Dangers of TrimSpa?

TrimSpa products were made famous by the company's spokesperson, the late Anna Nicole Smith. The original TrimSpa diet pills contained ephedra, which was eventually banned by the FDA because of health concerns. The company now produces an ephedra-free product known as Ephedra X32. In 2005, the Federal Trade Commission forced TrimSpa to pay $1.5 million for "false advertisement," based on TrimSpa's claim of "painless, high speed weight loss" being greatly exaggerated. Talk to your doctor before taking TrimSpa.

Anxiety

TrimSpa contains stimulants, including 40 percent caffeine. According to eMedTV, this can cause a number of side effects, including restlessness, tremors, rapid heartbeat and insomnia.

Allergic Reactions

While allergic reactions to TrimSpa are rare, they can happen in those who are allergic to one or more TrimSpa ingredients. Signs of an allergic reaction include wheezing, rashes, itching or difficulty breathing. These symptoms require immediate attention.

Headaches

TrimSpa products contain tyramine, which can cause headaches, according to the National Headache Foundation. Not everybody has the same sensitivity to tyramide, so headaches might be more severe in certain individuals. People who take MAO inhibitors are especially sensitive to tyramide, and should always talk to their doctors before consuming TrimSpa.
