Ingredients

The key ingredients in Myoplex are proteins, followed by carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals, fibers, sugars, fats and food additives.
Myoplex includes proteins derived from milk, whey and egg albumin. Carbohydrates in this supplement are derived from corn or from cacao powder, which is also a good source of protein.
Myoplex contains several B vitamins as well as vitamins A, C, D and E.
Minerals included in Myoplex are sodium, magnesium, potassium, zinc, calcium, manganese, chromium, selenium, molybden and iodine.
The source of fiber in Myoplex is derived from cotton seeds.
Other ingredients include artificial sweetener sucralose and acesulfame potassium and food additives such as sodium hexametaphosphate and carrageenan.

How It Works

Proteins are essential nutrients for growth and development. They provide the body with energy and are needed to manufacture hormones, antibodies, enzymes and tissues. Proteins are an important component of the muscles and are directly responsible for building, repairing and growing muscles.
Carbohydrates are also important for building and maintaining muscles. During exercise, the body relies on carbohydrates as the main source of energy. Therefore, inadequate levels of carbohydrates will lead to decreased energy during workouts.
Vitamins and minerals are involved in metabolic processes that produce energy and maintain, repair and grow muscles. Vitamins and minerals help the body to properly use the proteins available in body. Thus, individuals who exercise or wish to build muscles need adequate levels of these nutrients in the body.

Research

The official website of Myoplex does not include any specific clinical study for its products.
Myoplex provides calories, fat, protein, carbohydrates, fibers, vitamins and minerals that can replace a meal or can be used as a snack after a workout.
Myoplex contains proteins derived from whey, which support greater net muscle mass gains with resistance exercise compared with other sources of proteins, according to a study published by Stuart M. Phillips and colleagues in the 2009 issue of the "Journal of the American College of Nutrition."

Efficacy

According to EMedTV, it is not known if the Myoplex works or if is more effective than other products that are promoted for weight loss, increasing muscle mass or enhancing muscle endurance.

Considerations

Consult a nutritionist who can recommend optimal diet and supplements along with an exercise program provided by a personal trainer. Myoplex contains ingredients derived from milk and eggs that may cause food allergy or intolerance in susceptible individuals.
