The makers of the Flex Belt claim it tones and firms abdominal muscles with little effort from the user. For those too tired or busy for traditional ab workouts, it does the job for you. It's marketed as useful to casual exercisers, fitness enthusiasts, busy executives, new mothers and those with physical disabilities. It's also the first Food and Drug Administration-approved ab belt toning system.
How It Works
The Flex Belt has three medical-grade gelpads, which adhere to the skin covering the abdominal muscles and obliques. The belt sends out signals to the nerves that branch out to the abdominal muscles. This causes them to contract and then relax. It stimulates all abdominal muscles, including the lower abs, upper abs and obliques for a "crunch" effect. It eliminates the need to worry about form because it does the work of strengthening the muscles for you. Gel pads last about 30 sessions; replace as necessary for the best results.
What It Feels Like
It feels like a mild pulsing with intermittent tightening. The tightening lasts for a few seconds before releasing to relax the muscles. You control the intensity with a controller that offers levels from one to 100. You increase the strength as it feels comfortable and as your abdominal muscles become stronger.
When to Use
Use it daily to see results within four to eight weeks. After you begin to experience satisfactory results, wear it two to three times a week to maintain results. Wear it at home, work, while watching TV or folding laundry, while exercising or anywhere at anytime.
Warnings
Do not use the Flex Belt if you have heart problems, particularly if you use a pacemaker or if you have diabetes or any type of cancer, but especially cancers that produce skin lesions. Wait until at least six weeks after giving birth or three months after a Cesarean before using the Flex Belt to give you abdominal muscles plenty of time to heal. Always consult your physician first before using any exercise equipment.
Warranty And Further Help
The Flex Belt's two-year warranty covers manufacturing defects that arise when used correctly, as outlined in the product manual. The warranty does not cover damage due to abuse, misuse, extreme hot or cold temperatures, voltage surges or the gel pads' normal wear and tear. You are responsible for paying any shipping charges incurred in returning the belt for replacement.
