Hoyt is a bow manufacturing company, producing archery bows since the early 1900s, with a full selection of target and hunting compound bows. The Hoyt compound bow is made with a series of cables, pulleys and limbs that can be adjusted to match your individual size and shooting preferences. One of the major adjustments is draw weight-- the amount of force required to draw the bow. Adjusting a Hoyt bow's draw weight can be performed easily with a few basic archery tools.
Step 1
Test the draw weight on a scale. Place the bow string on the hook of the scale and pull the bow to full draw and read the display on the scale. This draw weight number will determine if you need to increase or decrease the draw weight.
Step 2
Use the appropriate Allen wrench to loosen the Pocket Locking screws located on both sides of the pocket, where the limbs connect to the riser. Hoyt bows with a Dual Locking Pocket System will utilize the Pocket Locking screws.
Step 3
Turn the limb bolt clockwise to increase the draw weight. Count the number of complete and partial turns.
Step 4
Turn the limb bolt counter-clockwise to decrease the draw weight. Count the number of complete and partial turns.
Step 5
Repeat the equal amount of turns on the opposite limb bolt. This will ensure proper cam function and bow efficiency.
Step 6
Tighten the Pocket Locking screws securely when completed with the bow weight adjustment.
Step 7
Test the final draw weight on the scale.
