Good shooters can score when the game is on the line and help their team win games. Good shooting is the result of having good form when you release the ball and having the confidence to take the shot.
Balance
Step 1
Spread your feet slightly more than shoulder-width apart.
Step 2
Place your dominant foot slightly ahead of your other foot.
Step 3
Bend your knees slightly and place your weight on the balls of your feet.
Hand Placement
Step 1
Place the ball on the fingertips of your dominant hand.
Step 2
Place your other hand on the side of the ball.
Step 3
Bring the ball up to the level of your forehead.
Shooting Sequence
Step 1
Jump up as you prepare to shoot the ball.
Step 2
Focus your vision on the front of the rim as you prepare to shoot the basketball.
Step 3
Release the ball when you are at the top of your leap.
Step 4
Snap your wrist forward as you let go of the ball and ensure that the middle finger of your shooting hand is pointing at the rim.
Step 5
Do not take your eyes off of the rim at any point in the shooting process.
